My mother has this beautiiful collection of teacups which belonged to her mother and to her mother's mother. Why have I never known about these?
Unlike most people who display their special teacups on a dresser or in a glass cabinet, these were stored in the very back of a cupboard in a cardboard box.
She unexpectedly pulled them out to show me when I last visited and I've been drawing teacups ever since.
And some of them have started to make their way into my textile sketches.
I really love the clink of a cup settling back into it's saucer. So much better that the thunk of a mug on a coaster!
